Accusations Against the UN

The Houthis have accused the UN of espionage for Western nations and criticized its perceived political bias, particularly regarding military actions by Israel. Despite these allegations, the UN has maintained its commitment to neutrality and humanitarian aid.

UN’s Response to the Incident

Jean Alam, spokesperson for the UN Resident Coordinator in Yemen, confirmed the unauthorized entry by Houthi security forces, affecting 15 international staff members. The UN is actively engaging with local authorities to ensure the safety of its personnel and assets.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern over the Houthi allegations. Through his spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, Guterres firmly denied the accusations, emphasizing the potential risks they pose to UN staff and humanitarian missions.

Guterres highlighted that such claims could endanger the lives of UN personnel and disrupt critical aid operations in Yemen.
